Something I'm starting to get obsessed about. A couple particular lines, at that.

I keep thinking about Harry's line that he whispers to the snitch when he's going to meet Voldemort.

"I'm going to die." (or was it, "I'm about to die"?)

That line is starting to get me. I'll think of it on the random and I start choking up, because that kind of stuff gets me, it really gets me to think of this seventeen year old boy, scared and alone (and no, I do not think he was marching off bravely. He was afraid and he had a right to be afraid. You can march off without fear, but it takes something to march off absolutely stricken with fear and still do what needs to be done), wanting very badly to not have to do this, and he does it anyway to protect those he loves.

Okay, here it comes, the waterworks.

Second, I'm getting all weepy because of Snape's last words, "Look at me." and I'm such a sucker for unrequited love and though it may be that I'm a Snape/Lupin, Snape/Draco, and Snape/random character fan, I actually believed in Snape and Lily for this. And, to me, that really spoke of Rowling's storytelling ability. Say what you will of her writing, but the woman can craft a fine, fine story.

In terms of canon, I may very well ignore the seventh book because two of my favorite characters are, like, dead. I can't even write post-death mourning fics because, well, Remus and Severus are deader than doornails and I'm not very good at afterdeath fics.

At least Percy's alive and well. I'm looking forward to seeing more fics involve him, now that he's back with his family and he HAS KIDS IN THE EPILOGUE! That was so adorable! I hope he has lots of kids and I hope they're as fussy and weird as he is and I hope one of them rebels and wears mismatched clothing with ripped sneakers and I hope he secretly LOVES IT. ;)

So far, only a few of my friends have finished the book here, and it makes me a sad bunny because I want a long discussion over tea and coffee at someone's house, but that's not doable when half the people I know haven't even started the series.

;_;

I keep thinking about that wyhole, "I'm going to die," line too, because it's incredibly hard to go through with something that requires your death. When you're young, you generally feel this sense of invincibility, of immortality, and Harry just releases all of that and just lets it all go. =( And he did die, but then he didn't, not completely. So.... It was all good in the end. Sort of.

I hope they're as fussy and weird as he is and I hope one of them rebels and wears mismatched clothing with ripped sneakers and I hope he secretly LOVES IT.

=O That sounds like a great story just waiting to happen! *beats plot bunnies back*

I also adored Snape's "Look at me." While anyone could see Snape/Lily coming from a mile away, I was surprised at how touched I was by his devotion to her. I cannot wait to see what Alan Rickman does with the scene (provided they keep the Snape/Lily bit in the movie).

I only just finished last night! *Is exhausted* I think I teared up the most at Remus and Tonks together beside Fred. *Wibble*

You can march off without fear, but it takes something to march off absolutely stricken with fear and still do what needs to be done), ...

There's a quote I really like from a Raymond E. Fiest book (of course, I can't find it for the life of me) that's along these lines. The characters, two brothers, are about to go into battle and the older one says something to the effect of: 'A hero isn't someone with great courage, but a person who, when fighting, forgot to run away and despite their fear, somehow lived through.'

Or something to that effect. If Harry wasn't afraid of walking straight in to DeathEaterVille alone and, for all intents and purposes, unarmed, that would only mean that he'd gone completely mad. Any sane person would feel fear in that situation. Harry was in shock, IMO. He got through it becuase of the shock's numbness and with the encouragement of the 'ghosts'.

I loved that Snape knew Lily and Petunia when they were kids. That was so perfect. Poor, poor Snape. I thought that he was good at the end of the book six, but several parts of this book made me seriously doubt it. It was well done, I agree.

Whenever I saw that "Look at me" line without a Snape reference point, I always think of Harry in the OotP movie. Which kills me, the both of them saying that line. (Is it in the book? I don't remember.)

I've read your other DH reaction posts. Brilliant as always. I agree with you on the Dumbledore points..

Dobby's death was the one that made me cry the hardest, so sudden, and he was so surprised.

And then Fred died and I was like "OMGNO!" and then.. well..

When Snape died.. I knew it was going to happen. I had thought it would be Harry. But it was a strange, mingled sense of triumph and utter sadness that I realized why he had done all he did, and I just.. aw, I hurt for him!

I've been a Snape whore since the first book.. and now.. I just... *sniffle*

*cuddles a Snape plushie*

Totally puts my unfinished fanfic where he was falling in love with an OOC character named Lilium (which is Latin for Lily!!!) in a whole 'nother light, don't it?
