ASDFGHJKLJFEOPJRFEL:JFKEJLRFE.
This was an episode worth waiting for. First of all.
Wow.
And also, I cried like fucking baby.
This episode makes me so incredibly excited about the season four finale.
First, let me get this out of the way. While I love all the companions and UNIT and the Daleks and even Davros, I was waiting this whole episode for the Doctor and Rose's reunion. This is what I was waiting for and oh, oh the end.
Donna: Why don't you ask her yourself?
Doctor: *turns* *sees Rose*
Rose: *bigbigbigbig grin*
Doctor: *biggerbiggerbigger grin*
Rose: *runs*
Doctor: *runs*
Donna: *looks like a shipper!*
The look on this face?
Oh, wow. The look on his face. It was part disbelief, part hope, part shock, part burgeoning happiness and I started crying then and there. I shrieked a bit, because what's a Doctor/Rose fan without any of the shrieking? I shrieked and then promptly had to have tissues handy because it was like a water fest was happening right in my eyes.
And then, she starts running toward him, he starts running toward her, they're both seeing each other for the first time in years and since two parallel worlds and for one absolutely brilliant and fantastic moment, things are perfect because the Doctor looks so effing happy and the Rose-grin we know and love has bloomed across her face and it's not the sGod-Doctor and it's not a battle-hardened Rose. It's the Doctor and Rose and...
then there was a Dalek.
I loved seeing all the old companions. Everyone was there but... still no Mickey and Jackie. I really want to see them, I really do.
FORMER PRIME MINISTER HARRIET JONES. *weeps*
When she showed up on the screen, I suddenly started thinking about Nine and their mutual appreciation. I remember her asking Rose where 'her Doctor' was in The Christmas Invasion. And then she died so that they could try to save everyone else on Earth. That is such a Harriet Jones thing to do.
I also noticed - the most faithful of the Doctor's companions will die.
Okay. Wow. This could mean a lot of things, but I'm assuming it means Donna Noble since we've been getting hints all through the season about it. But. Remember how the Beast said that the Valiant Child will die in battle. If RTD really has had this planned out since S1, then it's very possible the Beast was referred to this rather than the metaphorical death of Rose being trapped in a parallel world.
I don't want either. I really don't. But I think we'll see next week.
One other Rose moment was when she could see the Doctor and none of them could see her. None of them could see Rose and dude, I've been in that frustration when you can see everyone talking to everyone else and you feel like you're shouting and everyone's ignoring you. Oh, and then Rose saying, Doctor, it's me. Came back.
Seriously, RTD. You're ripping my heart out here.
So much happened in this episode, but shamelessly, all I can think about is the Doctor/Rose reunion. It might be a bit shallow of me, but I can't really concentrate on much else. Well. I suppose I spared some moments to Martha-squeeing (how confident and kickass is she now?) and the adorableness of Luke and Sarah Jane (she made fun of Mr Smith's sound!) And then, oh, Torchwood without Tosh and Owen, who DO get a mention. I'm so, so glad they were mentioned in this episode. (Plus, Jack flirting with Sarah Jane! Total win!) And of course. Sarah Jane Smith.
Who can forget that Sarah Jane has seen this all before and she is one person in this season who has clashed with Davros before. Oh, Sarah Jane Smith. The utter fear in her eyes and the ability to battle it down and remain focused? I fell in love with her all over again. I hope nothing happens to her.
There was a lot of crack in this episode. Actually, a lot more than I expected. 0_0 In fact, I'd almost think RTD wrote this one while he was high. BYE is the one thing the Doctor has to say to Davros? Brilliant. Donna noticing Jack and looking very interested? Wilf and his paint gun that is supposed to blind the Daleks? ALIEN BEES? Rose threatening looters with her gun? The Doctor running off after being threatened with leadership? HA. That is such a Doctor thing to do. (Also, minor aside, but WOMAN WEPT. Nine and Rose went there together!) And Dalek Khan, WTF? That is one really messed up Dalek. It was singing, the Dalek was singing...
But. Dude. The best part, for me, will always, always, always be the moment the Doctor turns and sees Rose and the two of them start running toward each other like this is some stupid effing romance movie and the cliché could burn my retinas out, but it doesn't because this is the DOCTOR AND ROSE and we've been waiting FOREVER FOR THIS MOMENT. With Rose's mothereffing theme! And the Doctor's-Rose-Grin in action again. And he's so happy. And she's so happy.
And Davies! You had the balls to ruin that beautiful scene with a Dalek and it was perfect and heartbreaking and DAMMIT, can't we have just one HAPPY MOMENT FOR THESE TWO? I'm crying into my soup here and ASDFGHJKL.
Russell T. Davies. I love you. And I've also cried a lot these past two episodes. Please don't utterly destroy me next week. Please?
And, oh yes, his possible regeneration. I know that since the last regeneration we saw was between Nine and Ten, and that is why I'm remembering The Parting of the Ways so much, but can anyone blame me for freaking out when that happened? We know that Tennant is coming back for the specials in 2009, but other than that... what could happen?
Is it the season finale yet?
Pretty please?
