Essentially, the students are stuck in Hogwarts as war/Death Eaters/Voldemort/Ministry rages outside. Authors usually go the path of slow starvation, of boredom, of discovered secrets, of romance, etc. etc. It's generally VERY dark and dreary. *g* My sort of angst. XD
